Experience
1/2009 – Present: SimEx Inc., Toronto, ON, Canada
Sr. Electrical and Project Engineer
In addition to my electrical and system design role, I am also responsible for project engineering tasks that include managing multiple projects from project initiation to closeout with focus on planning and scheduling, WBS, risk analysis and contingency, project reviews, reporting and presentations. I also travel to customer sites worldwide.
4/2006 – Present: SimEx Inc., Toronto, ON, Canada
Sr. Electrical Engineer – Audio, Video, Controls & Networking
As a senior electrical engineer I am responsible for product design & development, electrical, controls and system design, validation and acceptance testing; installation, commissioning and technical support.
1/2006 – 3/2006: General Motors, Oshawa, ON, Canada
Design Release Engineer – Audio (Contract Consultant)
I was responsible for validating system specifications and functional characteristics of components related to infotainment building blocks that includes automotive audio amplifiers, speakers, Satellite Digital Audio Receivers (SDARS), Navigation system, etc. I was then responsible for releasing the product for manufacturing. I also evaluated audio systems and acoustics utilizing listening skills. Visited supplier manufacturing plants to oversee mule builds/prototype builds.
8/2004 – 12/2005: Motorola Inc., Dhaka, Bangladesh
Project Program Specialist – Network Systems
I was responsible for overall project management activities including resource planning, project scheduling, budget control, contingency planning, etc. in execution and supervision of CDMA cellular infrastructure installation projects. Other technical activities involved were visiting cell sites, coordinating site surveys with RF team, developing master BOQ with different engineering teams and review of system specifications. I also participated in negotiation for site acquisitions, RFQ and bid selection, process improvement and cost reduction, local resources development, qualifying vendors and suppliers, improving repair and return processes, Digital six sigma implementations, etc. The projects I was involved were a 300,000 subscriber expansion for PBTL (Singapore Telecom) valued at US$50M; and a new installation project for SATel Ltd utilizing CDMA WLL technology for 50,000 subscribers valued at US$12M.
2/2004 – 7/2004: Centerline Windsor Ltd., Windsor, Ontario
Lead Electrical Engineer – Supersonic Spray Division
I was responsible for developing and designing new equipment based on an innovation in Supersonic Spray technology. I designed and built the system and demonstrated a prototype to potential clients.
2/2003 – 2/2004: Bose Corporation, Rochester Hills, MI, USA
System Integration Engineer (Contract Consultant)
Provided vehicle integration support in transitioning to a DSP based amplifier design and supported new product launches. Helped setup a new test office with various test tools and by training resources at their new Rochester hills location. Also on a regular basis performed acoustical analysis using listening skills to ensure good audio performance and optimum acoustical character of the system.
8/2002 – 2/2003: Navistar International Truck Engine Company, IN, USA
Systems Engineer– Electrical & Electronic Systems (Contract Consultant)
As a Systems Engineering consultant for the Truck Engine division, my responsibility was to develop the system engineering processes for a newly formed system engineering group.
08/2000 – 7/2002: Delphi Automotive (Delco Electronics), Kokomo, IN, USA
Electrical Design Engineer – Automotive Audio and Multimedia
As a design engineer for the audio building block group, I designed and developed audio electronics, components, performed characterization of audio systems, write technical specification and reviewed electrical, component and board layouts with other interacting functional groups (RF, Playback, Microprocessor, etc) interfacing with my core audio blocks. I used various audio and test tools like Audio Precision, Scopes, Spectrum Analyzer (Used for PSRR and Back way Noise test), etc. I used mentor graphics for component design, automation software using APWinVB and NI GPIB cards to automate test procedure to generate frequency sweeps and capture results. I also troubleshot vehicle system integration issues analyzing system behavior running on Class 2, CAN, GMLan. I developed volume, EQ and tone tables as per customer specification and frequency response curves and provided feedback on acoustical performance. I also approved & released new and updated parts and schematics.
9/1997 – 7/2000: Stellite Coatings, Goshen, IN, USA
Electrical Design Engineer
I was responsible for the design of electrical, controls, automation and programming of automotive valve welding PTA machines. Developed requirements, specifications & BOM, created drawings, acceptance test documents and performed system cycle tests as well as travel to customer sites for commissioning and troubleshooting.
